Historically Used In an Exclusive Sense, This Blog Aims to Explore What God's Up To Inside & Outside the Institutional Church

“Whole Lot a Shakin’ Goin’ On”

“The early church had a propensity to receive the prophets and to carefully consider their words.  Those prophets who went from Jerusalem to Antioch, were undoubtedly sent from the (one and only) church in Jerusalem, and were received by the (one and only) church in Antioch. ‘Agabus stood up and showed by the Spirit that there was going to be a great famine throughout the world’ (Acts 11:28).  He was believed because of the integrity of the first century church, and the witness of the Spirit. The disciples, each according to his ability, determined to send relief to the brethren dwelling in Judea.  They sent these funds to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.

Today, there are many brands of prophets, no church or leadership integrity within the cities and regions, and compounding calamities are facing our nations. Prophets and prognosticators alike are predicting a worldwide financial tsunami following on the heels of the horrendous devastation in Japan.

Frankly, it doesn’t take a prophet to forecast financial troubles.

We should not cower in fear and passivity, put our heads in the sand and live in denial, or buy into some hyper-faith/prosperity illusion.  Believers need to be prepared, steeped in faith and walking in wisdom by the Spirit.  These are days of unprecedented opportunity for sons of God to demonstrate kingdom life in the midst of cultural and economic shaking.

Casual gatherings for fellowship need to be transformed into training sessions for kingdom advancement.  Petty issues must be laid at the foot of the cross.  Either we change our priorities, or they will be changed for us.”
